Define Addict
How do you define addict? Some people claim they have their (addiction) under control and it isn’t a true addiction. I was one of those people.
It all started 6 years ago at the age of 18. I was at my summer lake house with my family when my cousin talked me into trying it “just once”. After trying it that “just once” I went from a can ever week to a can every few days always telling myself that I had it under control and I wasn’t an addict. I told myself addicts were people who couldn’t stop when they wanted, people who would use a can or more a day. That wasn’t me…or was it?
Rewind to January- I was up to a can every two days or sometimes even a day. It was one morning that I walked into a gas station to purchase my best friend, my side kick, cope wintergreen LC. As I had the cash over the counter to the cashier that’s when I realized I had just bought a can yesterday and here I was again. That SCARED the hell out of me.
Fast forward to the present day- I sit here today 105 days clean with a clean mind and finally realize what an addict truly is. It doesn’t matter if you are a can a day or a can a week, we are or were all addicts. Under the spell of that little tiny can. So what are you waiting for? Drop the can, your journey to finally being an ex addict starts right now.
Special Thanks
May 2017 Family
It took me a few weeks to finally feel comfortable posting in the forums outside of roll call and I wouldn’t be where i am today without each and EVERYONE of you knuckleheads. I love you guys!
Vets
There are a ton of vets that helped me along the way and I apologize if I don’t list everyone here. Special Shout out to BillW21, he was the first quitter to give me his number and was a monster help during those early days of not knowing what to expect. Law, you were my first quit contact to reach HOF while I was part of KTC and that was a true inspiration and helped me reach this hallow ground. Gassy and Harvest Girl, I don’t even know what to say about you guys! You guys always knew how to help me clear my head in those early morning chats all the way to today with things going on in my daily life.
Thank you everyone at KTC, you all have made an everlasting impact on not only my quit, but my life
