Grinds Coffee Pouches – Pumpkin Spice Review
It’s Thanksgiving week so I figured it was a great time to try and get caught up with another product review – this time Grinds Pumpkin Spice Coffee Pouches! I was first introduced to Grinds back in 2013 when they were featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. Since then I’ve reviewed several of their products including:
Some standard info about Grinds products to get out of the way. If you’re not familiar with them, they’re made out of coffee grinds. All flavors of Grinds are pouch products so you don’t have to deal with cleanup or spitting if you don’t want to. The pouch itself you can’t swallow but the juices themselves are completely safe – after all you’re essentially brewing coffee in your mouth. Each pouch as the caffeine equivalent of a 1/4 cup of coffee so you’ll get a nice little boost. This is important to point out for those folks who like to chew at night or can’t have caffeine. It’s there so if you can’t have it you’ll need to avoid these.
I have to preface this review by saying I’m not what you’d call a pumpkin fan. I’ve never had a pumpkin spice latte (PSL), I can deal with about one pumpkin beer per season and I can only stomach about two bites of pumpkin pie before I’m done – and that’s from Momma Chewie who’s an AMAZING baker.
NOTE: I’ve been accused of making these reviews pretty similar as I tend to include quite a bit of the same info in many of them. That’s actually by design in that I know that not everyone reads all of my reviews. I like to make them so they’re stand alone so you don’t have to ‘follow along’ some narrative from review to review. In any case…
Grinds Pumpkin Spice Coffe Pouches Ingredients
Coffee, Caffeine, Glycerin, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Taurine, Glucuronolactone, B-Vitamins, Acesulfame Potassium, Sodium Carbonate, Potassium Sorbate
Grinds packaging is a round plastic tin that’s really solid. No flimsy cans that you will crush here. In addition the top of the can pops off presumably for you to put your used pouches (or maybe save them?) Not sure… not a feature I use but unique to be sure. Each can also has an ingredients list and a “best before” date imprinted on it which I really appreciate.
Grinds Pumpkin Spice Pouches – Thoughts & Recommendation
I’m thrilled to say that all of my preconceived notions about a pumpkin spice flavored products were wrong. These are amazing. Grinds are coffee products, so naturally you’re going to get a coffee taste. That only makes sense. That said with this one it’s not overpowering at all. The pumpkin is there but it too isn’t overpowering. I didn’t get that gag reaction I typically get from pumpkin products. Far from it actually. This gives me that nice warm flavor when I have a fine Octoberfest or Christmas Ale. Strong, strong recommend for this one. There aren’t too many other pumpkin alternatives on the market (I can only think of one) – this is by far the best one I’ve tried.
As always there’s a TON of super dark brown saliva that’s produced but you don’t have to spit if you don’t want to. Again, what you’re really doing here is “brewing” coffee in your mouth. Pouches last quite a while – 20 to 30 minutes during my test which was two pouches. I typically say with my Grinds reviews that if you don’t like coffee you may not like them. This is the first one that I might even suggest non-coffee fans may want to try them. They’re that good.
