BaccOff Coffee Pouches Review

BaccOff Coffee PouchesBack tonight with another product review – the first of 2020! Tonight I’m taking a look at a relatively new product from our friends at BaccOff – Coffee Pouches! Tonight I’m reviewing three flavors including Wintergreen, Mocha and Caramel. In looking over their website I see they also have a Vanilla flavor available. I’ll see if I can’t get my hands on that to review that as well.

Check out my previous Bacc-Off reviews here: tag/bacc-off.

Before I get started I have to address the obvious – these are pouches made from coffee. If you don’t like coffee I’m guessing you’re not going to like these, regardless of which flavor you try. Also, if you’re affected by caffeine you’ll want to steer clear of these as well. Coffee has caffeine and these are made from coffee… you do the math.

BaccOff Coffee Pouches – Wintergreen

As I typically do when I review I either start or end with Wintergreen (as I was primarily a Kodiak guy). I have to say I was disappointed with this one. The pouches smell nice when you pop open the can but that’s about where my joy ended with this one. The wintergreen was a bit overpowering for me and while there were certainly coffee flavors here all I really got was the wintergreen. That said, the pouches were moist and produced quite a bit of saliva (though you don’t need to spit if you don’t want to). Typically with my coffee flavored chews I just swallow the juice which is essentially like drinking coffee brewed in your mouth. With this one I was spitting.

BaccOff Coffee Pouches – Mocha

Super moist and super dark color. Moister and darker than the wintergreen. This was more of a traditional coffee flavor and I think it’s fair to say that I liked this one quite a bit better. I drink my coffee black. This is sweeter than that and has the flavor of a coffee that’s been sweetened by artificial flavoring rather than pure cane sugar (that’s not necessarily a bad thing, I’m just trying to properly convey the taste here). Once again lots of saliva and while I was more inclined to swallow this one I found myself still spitting.

I got it with the wintergreen and I can’t help to think that I’m getting it here too, but it’s sort of a ‘bitter’ flavor. I’m not sure if it’s coming from the coffee itself (similar to the way Starbucks over roasts its coffee beans for that burnt flavor) or from the flavoring. As with all of my reviews they’re totally subjective so take them with a grain of salt.

BaccOff Coffee Pouches – Caramel

I ended the tasting night with Caramel. Right out of the can I could tell that this was going to be my favorite of the three. These smell absolutely amazing when you pop the can with that nice sweet smell of caramel. Once again a nice moist pouch, this one being not quite as dark as mocha and not quite as light as wintergreen. I was able to swallow this one the whole time, though I did get some of the ‘bitterness’ I got from the previous two flavors. That leads me to believe its a characteristic of the coffee as opposed to the flavoring added.

BaccOff Coffee Pouches – Ingredients

The ingredients listed on the can were the same for all three flavors: Water, Glycerin, Coffee, Cellulose Fiber, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Sugar, Salt, Caramel Coloring, Sodium Benzoate

There was also a note that the ingredients were FDA compliant.

Final Thoughts

As I said in my intro, if you don’t like coffee you’re not going to like these. There are other bunch of other coffee alternatives out there. I’m not sure there are any that are as moist as the BaccOff variety. All three flavors (wintergreen, mocha and caramel) produced quite a bit of saliva and lasted for a good 15-20 minutes per chew. I always test with TWO pouches, though you have enough flavor here to get away with one if you’d like. One pouch would be great for a nice little pick me up around the office 😉

Of the three, caramel was my clear favorite here. All three did have sort of a ‘bitter’ flavor which I have to think is due to the way they roast their coffee. All in all not my favorite product offering from BaccOff but I’m still super excited that they continue to offer new and unique products. I’m interested to see what others have to say about these.

You can order Bacc-Off directly from their website or on Amazon. You can get BaccOff Coffee Pouches in single cans, a roll of 12 cans or on a subscription plan.

Special thanks to Anna from Bacc-Off for providing samples for me to try and review.
