BlakeinTennessee HOF Speech – 04/10/2018
“Dip is not as bad for you as cigarettes..”
“Cancer from dipping is a hereditary thing. My great-grandfather, grandfather, and uncle all dipped and never got cancer. I’ll be fine.”Â
“I’ve got very healthy gums. It’ll take years of dipping for it to effect them..”
These are just a few of the many lies I told myself on a daily basis when I was a slave of dipping tobacco.
Having been nicotine-free for 100 days now, I only wish I knew then what I know now –
Quitting was the single best health decision I have ever made in my life.Â
I am the healthiest Physically, Mentally, Spiritually I have ever been.
As a bird freed from a cage, I have been set free from the chains of nicotine. Free to experience life independent from that little tin can in my pocket.
Who would’ve ever thought, such a little “let me try it with the boys”, could have/did turn into full-fledged addiction/slavery.
However, our sentence that is an enslavement to the can, is not a life-sentence.
You see, addiction to nicotine and addiction to sin are interchangeable..
Romans 6:23 states “For the wages of sin is death..”
In a life of addiction, “the wages of nicotine is death..” as well..
Galatians 5:1 states, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery”
We are bigger, stronger than a nicotine crave. It is through the power of Christ, we are able to overcome any and every temptation!
There will come a day when we are no more on this Earth..
Do you want to be free from the struggle, sadness, unrest of this World? Just like freedom from nicotine?
Follow God. That is my one plea.
Perhaps you’re considering battling your addiction or have already won the battle..
Let God walk with you, and help you along your journey.. He will never fail you.
Believe – Hebrews 11:6, John 3:16
Repent of your Sins – Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30
Confess Jesus is the Son – Matthew 10:32-33, Romans 10:10
be Baptized and wash away your Sins – Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21
Remain Faithful, that you might not stumble – Revelation 2:10, 2 Corinthians 5:10
Thanks to each any every one of you who have helped me along this journey..
I yearn to now help the next man, as those who have come before me.
Reach out to me, whether for help battling addiction or with your walk with God.
I will close with a verse of encouragement..
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Â
Isaiah 41:10Â
