But I Didn’t Give In
I was a slave to nicotine for 25 years.
Now I’ve been 100 days without it.
In that time frame my supervisor pushed me to the limit and I was very lucky to not loose my job along with my temper,
but I didn’t give in.
My marriage almost came to an end,
but I didn’t give in.
Both parents of my best friend almost died,
but I didn’t give in.
My motorcycle broke down on me twice in a week.
but I didn’t give in.
Found out my 19 y.o. step daughter is pregnant by her punk dopehead boyfriend.
but I didn’t give in.
My wife knocked the passenger side mirror off her car on a mail box.
but I didn’t give in.
My computer crashed.
but I didn’t give in.
I’m having so much pain and arthritis in my back that I can’t do what I love the most, Judo.
but I didn’t give in.
I had to call a plumber 3 times in two weeks before finding out it was the town’s problem.
but I didn’t give in.
My Grandmother had a mild stroke.
but I didn’t give in.
Found out my dog’s liver is bad and may loose him.
but I didn’t give in.
On day 99 I find out that I have something wrong with my liver according to blood test results.
but I didn’t give in.
These are just a few things that made me want to say F#%K it and give in.
I just kept reminding myself that Copenhagen does not have magical powers that make these problems disapear. All it does is take money out of my pocket while I still have to deal with these problems.
I had a big fancy speech planned out that I had started typing up on the computer that crashed on me. That almost seemed like a sign….I can’t even prepare my speech about quitting then maybe…..
but I didn’t give in.
I could go on and on with excuses of all the shit I’ve been dealt in my life but just like nicotine… that’s in the past.
