This is an older article but I wanted to make sure to share it as it’s super important.

The CVS Health Corporation has said that it would resign from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce after revelations that the chamber and its foreign affiliates were undertaking a global lobbying campaign against antismoking laws. As you may recall, last year, CVS stopped selling tobacco products in its stores because the practice was against its mission to improve public health.

David R. Palombi, a senior vice president at CVS, said, “We were surprised to read recent press reports concerning the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s position on tobacco products outside the United States.” He went on to say, “CVS Health’s purpose is to help people on their path to better health, and we fundamentally believe tobacco use is in direct conflict with this purpose.”

The chamber has not gone on record as to why it has opposed public health steps like restricting smoking in public places.

People should be free to smoke, or not smoke if they so choose, as long as they know the risks then so be it..sick of companies and law makers to make laws and restrictions on people’s everyday lives and choices..law makers and major profit companies basically make our rules for us, no matter what we like or want…this coming from a non smoker.
