Finding a Motivating Reason

I’ve waited to make a HOF post because I was trying to write the perfect post, but I decided to just go with it, and share what’s on my mind. This has been a difficult journey for me. I was a longcut user for several years, never too heavy, but a couple of cans a week. Then, in trying to cut back, I switched to Zyn, and that shit hooked me hard. Suddenly I could have a “dip” in almost every waking hour. Trying to quit became even harder, and I tried many times.

This group made a big difference. I know I haven’t been very active in the group (I’m not able to be on my phone often during the day). Quitting was hard, and I think it was hardest because I didn’t have a “reason” other than my own health, which I guess I didn’t care too much about. But, then my wife and I decided to try to start a family, and we have not been so lucky. We’ve tried for a while now, and finally started working with a clinic. We’ve had all the tests, and it turns out that nicotine can affect sperm health. Once I found this out, I finally had a real motivating reason, something that could win out over my nic cravings. Recent tests have shown an improvement in my sperm health, and I know that’s because of this quit.

Wanting to start a family has kept me strong for 100 days, and hopefully I’ll be successful at that, which will give me even more motivation to stay quit, since I’ll of course want to be healthy and around for my family for as long as possible.

Thank you all so much! Here’s my first 100 days quit, and many more.
