Jake’s Mint Chew Butterscotch Pouches Review
The last coupe of product reviews I’ve done have been new flavors from our friends at Jake’s Mint Chew as they just continue to churn out new flavors. And once again I’m back with a new flavor review Jake’s Mint Chew Butterscotch!
I’m going to keep this rather brief as I’ve been told that ‘all of my reviews read the same’. I do apologize for that, but I try to make each review I write ‘stand alone’ so that if someone runs across JUST this review they’ll have an understanding of what this particular product is like without having to go back and read all of my previous reviews.
I’ll be honest here when I say that in general, Butterscotch isn’t one of my favorite flavors. Sure I’ll take a little drizzle of the stuff on my ice cream from time to time, but I wouldn’t call it my ‘go to’. I’m also not prone to reach for a Butterscotch candy (side note I had a professor in high school that LOVED those things to the point where his entire classroom smelled like Butterscotch when you walked in).
That said, as I always do, I went into this with an open mind and tried to kill two birds with one stone and reviewed this while sitting at one of my son’s baseball games. Just as I said in my Watermelon review, I have to applaud Jake’s as I think they’re the first to the market with this particular flavor.
When opening the plastic can lid there’s a nice, but subdued, smell of Butterscotch. In looking back through my notes I wrote, “Good smell upon opening though I’m not sure it is exactly what I would think of when I consider butterscotch.” My wife smelled it and she said that it did indeed smell like butterscotch. She’s a ball buster when it comes to smells so it’s fair to say they hit the mark.
These are not nearly as moist as other Jake’s products I’ve seen, but still not what I’d consider dry.
As I normally do, I tested using TWO pouches which seems about right in terms of flavor and longevity of the chew. For context I used to get about six dips out of a can of Kodiak.
When I think of butterscotch I think of a nice warm taste. This isn’t that, but it’s not bad. I have to say that as I kept the pouches in they begin to taste more like butterscotch… for more so then they did when I first popped them in.
Good staying power for the flavor here, lasting 15 or 20 minutes before petering out. You don’t have to spit with Jake’s products but if you do you’ll get a good amount of dark brown saliva. If you’re one to try new and unique flavor profiles give this one a look .
