Jake’s Mint Chew Maple Pouches Review
If you’ve been following KillTheCan for any length of time you know the folks from Jake’s Mint Chew have a SLEW of products and different flavors. You can find Jake’s content here dating back to 2010 and I really appreciate that sort of longevity, especially as I have to make updates of other manufacturers going out of business. I’m thrilled to be back today with the first of a FEW new Jake’s reviews, this one being Jake’s Mint Chew Maple Pouches!
As I near the 15 year point in my quit I really appreciate pouch products if for nothing but the ease of cleanup. Most pouch products, these included, don’t require you to spit. Just like all Jake’s products in the past these produce more than enough saliva if you WANT to spit.
What REALLY stands out there is the smell – it’s quite simply amazing. And as SOON as you crack that label it’s going to come pouring out. It straight up smells like a maple syrup factory and DAMN does it smell amazing. As per usual, I test using TWO pouches which seems about right to me. For context I used to get about six dips out of a can of Kodiak.
If the first thing that stands out is the smell, the second thing is clearly how moist these are. They are SOAKED with flavor. You can see in this picture just how wet they really are. With the slew of new dry pouch products on the market these days this was a welcome change.
Honestly I was sort of worried about this one. I couldn’t wrap my head around how they could make a product smell and taste like Maple when it was made from mint leaves. With flavors like wintergreen, cinnamon and mint (duh) you can sort of ‘hide’ the flavor of the mint. I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to it here – I was wrong. Nothing but ‘maple’ flavor coming through for nearly the entire 20 minutes of my sample. I may have gotten a tiny bit of that og mint flavor come through at the very end but nothing that I’d consider off putting. This is a REALLY nice alternative that has bold flavor that lasts for quit some time. Strong recommend.
