Jake’s Mint Chew Watermelon Pouches Review
Just a couple of weeks back I posted my review of a new flavor from Jake’s Mint Chew – Lemonade. The folks from Jake’s Mint Chew keep on churning out the new flavors so I’m back AGAIN today with a new flavor review: Jake’s Mint Chew Watermelon!
As I get close to the 15 year point in my quit I’m pretty much a pouch guy almost exclusively at this point, primarily due to ease of cleanup. Just like with all Jake’s products in the past these produce more than enough saliva if you WANT to spit but you don’t need to.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect here as I don’t think there are ANY other watermelon alternatives on the market (another point for Jake’s for being the market leader once again). I’ll be honest when I say that I’m a bit surprised at how much I liked these.
When opening the plastic can lid there’s a real nice smell of watermelon. Not overwhelming and perhaps not as much smell as some other Jake’s products but it’s there for sure. As with many Jake’s products in the past these are SOAKED with flavor (see photo below).
As I normally do, I tested using TWO pouches which seems about right in terms of flavor and longevity of the chew. For context I used to get about six dips out of a can of Kodiak.
Aside from actual watermelon, the only thing that I think of to compare this to that’s watermelon-y is a pack of Hubba Bubba or Bubblicious from my youth. These pouches are nearly as ‘intense’ as those gum flavors but they did evoke those flavor profiles (which is a good thing).
Long lasting flavor here (a good 20 minutes or so) with a plenty of dark brown spit produced if you want to spit – you don’t have to. Didn’t even get a ‘minty’ aftertaste with these that I typically get with Jake’s products – after all, these are MADE from mint. I’ll file this in the, ‘I didn’t know I wanted it but I’m glad I have it’, camp. If you’re a watermelon fan or you’re looking for an alternative that’s a little different give this one a shot!
