Joe Coffee Pouches – Product Review
One of my favorite types of posts to write are products reviews. I’ve said it a couple of times recently but right now is an AWESOME time to be a quitter because there are a TON of great alternative products coming to the market and there really is something for everyone.
I’m back again with another NEW entry into the alternative market, this time Joe Coffee Pouches! https://joepouches.com/
Joe Coffee Pouches come in two varieties – Medium Roast and Guatemala. Both are sweetened with Stevia and have a caffeine content of 40mg (1/2 cup of coffee) per pouch and have plans for a low caffeinated version (8mg) as well. They are a single origin product, sourced from Guatemala.
Joe Coffee Pouches Ingredients
Ingredients list is pretty straight forward (which I appreciate): Coffee, Caffeine, Sweeteners (Stevia and Xylitol) and Salt.
Joe uses premium coffee beans, roasted by local micro-roasters and immediately packed and sealed for freshness. These are really intended for coffee connoisseurs as a portable way to get their coffee and caffeine fix. According to the folks at Joe they, “Use high quality coffee so there are no plans to cover the poor taste of bad coffee. So no Wintergreen, Mint, Cherry or other flavors coming out. Just Coffee.”
The pouches themselves are the size of Skoal or Grizzly pouches, not snus sized pouches and come 12 pouches to a tin.
Joe Coffee Pouches – Medium Roast
Here’s the product description from the Joe’s website: “Mild acidity medium roast with flavor notes of caramel, cocoa and orange.”
Joe Coffee Pouches – Guatemala
Here’s the product description from the Joe’s website: “Medium body, smooth finish, flavor notes of tropical fruit. Single origin from Guatemala.”
Joe Coffee Pouches Thoughts
There are a ton of coffee pouches on the market these days and I’m pretty sure I’ve sampled most of them. If you don’t like coffee you’re not going to like these either from a flavor perspective or as a dip alternative. I’m going to write the rest of this review with that out of the way assuming you’re a coffee drinker.
I drink coffee regularly, to the tune of at least two cups every single day. I enjoy a good coffee but I wouldn’t consider myself a ‘coffee snob’. In fact, some of my favorite ‘daily drinkers’ are things like Dunkin or Panera. I’m not a ‘double pump, triple latte’ kinda guy.
All of that being said, these are REALLY nice coffee products. They taste great, aren’t burnt and have very little ‘extra’ flavoring. They taste like coffee. I think the product descriptions from the website above are pretty accurate, though I don’t suggest I’ve got palette nearly educated enough to really pull out those notes (whiskey… different story 😉 )
The first time I sampled these I preferred the Medium Roast over the Guatemala and the second time I sat down with them I preferred the Guatemala over the Medium. All in all they’re good products and the fact that I had two different experiences tells me which one you like is going to be really subjective. Can’t wait to get some additional input on these. If you’re a coffee fan give these a go if not you can pass.

Joe Coffee Pouches are available on their website at https://joepouches.com/. I’m not going to put pricing in this review as I don’t know when people will run across it and I hate to date the articles, but at the time of writing these premium coffee pouches are cheaper than most others on the market.
I’ve said in some of my coffee reviews in the past and I’ll repeat it here. These are coffee products. Period. They taste like coffee. They’re supposed to taste like coffee. If you don’t like coffee you’re not going to like these. End of story. However, if you ARE a coffee drinker, and I’d go so far as to say if you like good coffee, these are a great alternative. I’m very interested to see which of these folks prefer. They’re both really good in my book but for different reasons.
Special thanks to Chet at Joe Coffee Pouches for providing me samples to try and review. In addition to their website, you can also find them on social at Facebook, Twitter @JPouches or Instagram. Give them a like and a follow and tell em KillTheCan.org sent you!

Tried both with the KTC code. Good taste, but with all coffee pouch products I’ve tried, after 5 to 10 mins, you’re sucking on a flavorless bag. Give it a C –
