Kick That Nic – Here Is To Another 100 Days

KTC MissionI’ll start this off by saying thank you to my dentist who gave me a wake up call. He said if I didn’t quit ASAP, they would have to perform surgery to fix my gum line. I’ve been nudged by them before to quit but always blew them off thinking just a few more chews wouldn’t hurt. Next thing you know, 6 months go by and I’m back at the dentist for a checkup and the same game is played again, he says I should quit, I say yes, I know. I could see my gum line was way fucked and I still put that shit in my mouth. The grip that chew had on me was unbelievable. I would plan my day around it. I’m an IT consultant and have to visit customers all the time. I’d purposely buy pouches to try and conceal my chewing from them. At times I felt like I was in high school again trying to hide my chew from the teacher. What a joke. I’m almost 40 and still acting like a kid. I took a long hard look at myself and said it was time to quit. I found this site and decided to sign up. Problem was that I had quit chew but not nicotine. I was 2 months without chew but I was using a pack of gum a day. All I had done was replace the delivery method of nicotine. It still had a grip on me. Finally, while out of town for work, I decided to toss the gum too. Those first few days are a motherfucker. It gets better with each day that passes but the urge is still there. That’s where posting role and having a support network comes in to play. I don’t post much outside of role call but I know if I needed help or support, I could post up and have many numbers sent my way to help me out. Thank you killthecan. Here is to another 100 days.
