Life Insurance For Your Quit?
It’s amazing how our quits transform our thinking on things. This discussion about life insurance between PbKid and rkymtnman from our quit dipping forums is a perfect example.
Life Insurance – Insure Your Quit?
QUOTE (PbKid @ Apr 13, 2011, 9:53 pm)
My insurance agent isn’t ScubaSteve. It’s a tea-baggin’ milf with Allstate. Well, she used to be kinda milfy but to be honest she looks like a train wreck now. But that’s not my topic. She makes me be an adult every once in awhile by thinking about wills and estate planning and theft and generally reassessing my situation. Generally, I end up paying the same or less so I accept her invitation every 5 years or so. Introspection and self-assessment is torturous. She ended the meeting trying to sell me life insurance and I mentioned that I quit tobacco after 27 years. She askes when. 814 days ago. Stunned amazement. Well, if you’re still counting it must have been difficult, she says. Difficult? I stared into space for several days. This was the one quit I had in me and I’ll treasure it even on my death bed. It was, simply, the most impossible thing I’ve ever done. If you could insure this thing I have now, this quit I own, I’d pay the receptionist in cash when I leave. You have no idea how lucky I got to join April 2009, lady.

Right on brother. People can’t possibly imagine – or realize
– how difficult it was
– how fucking good it is now
– how proud I am / we are of our tremendous ability to grow a set and get this done
– how lucky I am / we are to have stumbled in to KTC when we did and post up a day 1 in 409.
That’s a bad ass story there, Jai. Thanks for that – I needed it this morning.
Now that is just good stuff… Thanks for sharing!
