Onelegrus’ Story
I’ve been a nicotine addict since I was 14! I loved baseball and all the big leaguers chewed tobacco when I was young. I thought that was just a part of the game. I played chewing for all the years that I played ball plus many more!
When I was 25, I lost my leg to bone cancer. I smoked and chewed at the time. The doctors said that tobacco had nothing to do with my bone cancer.
When I was 35, my brother died from congestive heart failure. He also liked to drank and do pills. I do believe that the combination of the two had something to do with his heart failure.
When I was 40, my sister died of an overdose. She was bi-polar and never kept herself properly medicated. She liked to do the pills by the handful. Taking that risk eventually led to her demise!
I am now a 48 year old man. I got married June of 2008 to a wonderful woman that I dated 25+years ago. I would love to spend many more years with her! I would also not want my mom to have to bury me, also!
On March 17 of 2011, I did a search on the web for ways to quit chewing tobacco. KTC was the first link that I clicked on. The first link that I went to once I got into the sight was Cancer Pics. After a brief moment of looking at the pictures, I went and flushed my brand new can of Grizzly down the toilet. I then went to KTC’s facebook page and made a comment. Someone then redirected me back to the KTC site!
I have posted roll every day since and today is my 100th day! It has not been an easy road, but my getting up EVERY morning and posting has gotten me this far! My plans are to keep up this wonderful habit! It takes a very short time and I feel like it will keep me around for many more years!
I would like to thank my same day quit brother, Husker, for always being there for me! You are a great man and I look forward to posting with you for many more years to come! When I’m not doing well, I can always call on you and you always give me sound advice. Again, thank you very much!
TCOPE, you are the man! I remember one time I told you I was struggling with my pool game because I’ve taken dip out of my game! You told me, “”If you think it’s impossible to play pool without dip then think how impossible it is to play pool when you’re dead because of dip”(I’m now playing better than ever) This is what I like the most about you, you just tell it like it is and don’t hold back! Keep it up!!!!!!!
Romandog, you’re a great man and I always enjoy quitting with you and you quitting with me!
Rocketman and Tarpon, keep firing the text messages at me. They’ve made my day quite a few times!
To all my quit brothers in June 2011, all of you rock!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to keep quitting with all of you daily, forever!
I am so very thankful to the people that came up with the idea of KTC!!! You are so very awesome and I know that you are sent by the Lord above to save people’s lives!!!! Again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last, but definitely not least, I want to thank my wonderful wife, Penny! She has always been there for me, and has been very understanding during my rough times. The Lord knows that we need understanding during the rough times! Again, thank you and I love you with all my heart and soul!!!
