What To Expect When You Quit Dipping
So you want to quit dipping and you would like to know what to expect when you do. We’re not going to pull any punches around here, it’s tough. That’s why we’re all here. This timeline has been put together over the years with the input of THOUSANDS of quitters. It has been shown to be remarkably accurate from the time you STOP USING NICOTINE.
Days 1 through 3 – Pure hell. You will walk in the fog. Nothing will seem real. Your brain is wondering where the hell its fix is and it is going to punish you until you come up with it. 72 hours, that’s all you need to get the nicotine out of your system. This is where you start to deal with the physical withdrawal associated with quitting dip. Drink lots of water. Read, post, read and post. Don’t take your anger out on your loved ones. We always tell everyone………Make this quit about YOU. If you quit for your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, kids, mommy or daddy, you will resent them during this period. Quit for yourself and come in here to rant. Yell at us. Bitch at us. We can take it. We’ve been there.
Days 4 through 20 – Here comes the mind games. The nicotine is out of your system now. You will still have some physical things to deal with.
- Cravings
- Irritability
- Insomnia
- Fatigue
- Inability to Concentrate
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Constipation, gas, stomach pain
- Dry mouth
- Sore tongue and/or gums
Yep, you have this to look forward to. Your brain is rewiring itself. It isn’t used to being in an oxygen rich environment. Your body is responding in kind. Everything is a mind game now. All the cravings you have are actually due to triggers. Triggers are events where you are in a situation you would normally dip in. Mowing the grass, playing poker online, playing golf, working on the car………you get the picture. Keep drinking water, use seeds, the fake stuff, whatever you need to keep the dip out of your mouth. Remember, oral fixation is part of our habit, something you will eventually need to break. For now though, use all the tools you have.
Days 20 – 50 – You’re winning. Life isn’t great, but you probably had a couple of nights where you actually got some sleep. You might notice you’re going to bed earlier than you normally do. Not staying up to get in that last dip. You may notice some sores in your mouth. You’re thinking, “great, I quit dipping and now I have cancer.” You almost certainly don’t. Your mouth is healing itself. Tiny ulcers you’ve had for a long time are healing. We recommend you visit your dentist around the 30 day mark. Don’t be a pansy, just do it. He or she will be very supportive and they can explain the sores much better than we can. Don’t let your guard down. Don’t go out drinking with the fellas or the girls. We also recommend that you don’t drink for at least the first 50 days. Drinking is a huge trigger event and it weakens your resolve.
Days 50 – 70 – Cruise control. Life is really good. You still think about it, but this is good stuff here. Some people may suffer anxiety attacks during or a little before this stage. Some doctors say we dipped to relieve anxiety anyway. Some people can push right through this, others need a little help. Talk to your doctor before you quit or immediately after you quit. They will know what to do. Some give Wellbutrin or Lexapro. Lots of people in the support community take or have taken these medicines and can help you with the affects. Don’t wait till you get to this stage of the game to talk to a doctor. You’ll cruise through this stage much easier if you know how to take care of the anxiety or at least know it’s coming.
Days 70 – 90 – Late term craves, the doldrums, the blahs, the blues. Some people end up feeling like they are right back at day 1. The fog, the haze, the craves. It can be a tough time. You need to let people in your group know this is happening. Time to circle the wagons to get through it. It usually only lasts a few days. Fight through this and make sure your order your HOF Knife or Coin. Here are a couple of articles about this time period which we refer to as “The Funk”
Days 90 – HOF – Houston, resume the countdown. Enjoy the hell out of these last 10 days. You will be celebrating with your group as you all enter the HOF. It is a great feeling and an accomplishment you should not take lightly. Do something special for yourself and your family. They put up with your sorry ass for the last 90 days and they deserve something too.
100+ Days – Stay vigilant. Use the tools you have, to continue beating back any cravings or urges. You will still experience dip dreams and longings, but you are fully qualified to beat them down. Continue to post roll with your group. Get into the newer groups and help somebody out. Pass it along. Live the dream.
I am quitting bc I realize I don’t need it and its a waste of money, my girlfriend doesn’t like it and she wants me to be healthy. I will still go thru about a whole can a day and it breaks my spirit when I realize I’m doing it. the only thing that can really get me thru a long period if time without it is when I spend the day with her. but free seeing her and not having thought about it, I pull into a gas station go in and ask for Copenhagen straight or wintergreen, and after I put one in is when I begin to feel like shit for it. I have “quit” at least 6 tines over the past two years and I can’t win for loosing. I need help and I need it now, I’m being driven up the damn wall, can’t sleep just thinking about it and even with the dip just thinking about quitting and “what would my baby say if she was here?” Makes it only worse in my mind . any advise?
So you are actually closet dipping. That is one of the worst things you can put yourself thru. The guilt and having to go thru withdraws constantly.
I have about 5 or 6 weeks in as a quitter. I dipped about two cans a day for at least 15 years. You can quit.
It is very hard for everyone not just you.
Here are the quit instructions:
1)Decide a date to quit and do it.
2)Get in your mind life is gonna really suck for a week or two. Be prepared.
3)Do whatever it takes to not put that shit in your mouth (fake dip, beef jerkey, gum, etc).
4)Take it DAY by DAY.
5)Stop making bullshit excuses to not stop dipping today or start back. Just quit!
Please understand tobacco is a killer. My wife is a nurse. This is killing young people too. People always think it will happen to someone else. Keep dipping it is going to kill you.
Been dipping for 7 years. 2+ cans a day skoal apple. Honestly I believe it is time to quit because ive just been put on anxiety medication and it seems to be reacting horribly with my dip. I get about three dips a can and about the only time I dont dip is at meals. I even enjoy falling asleep for the night with a good pinch in. Im ganna do it some how. Every time ive tried to stop in the past something seems to go bad in my life to make me want it more. Its sad that something you can pick up at a gas station can have such a hard grip on your life.
hi i have dipped since i was 10 im 21 now. i tried quitting, quit for 4 months now im sitting here with tounge pain hoping it is not cancer im going to give it another goround as of today
Hour 29 no dip Don’t know if I want one or not can’t get settled I have probably drank 20 glasses of water today. Well no problem I’m a quitter of dip.
I have been chewing for 9 years, grizz wintergreen(can/2days). Those first 3 days were hell! No joke. I woke up one morning ready to quit and I am happy with that decision. 50 days now and I can say, after reading every ones response and comments, that I have had it easy. Dip dreams are common but they are just dreams. Sore throat on week 3. Today was my first day not craving at all. I was in class this evening and a guy unsealed his new tin of grizzly wintergreen in front of me then proceeded to put one in. I was impressed with myself. Watched him do this, and then talked to him for a few minutes. Didn’t even want any. Smell was amazing as always but I quit because I was ready to. Didn’t do it for anyone. Chewie is somewhat right about words like try and others, but it’s a lot easier typing these words then thinking this way. I knew I could do this from day 1. So I may be a little impressed with myself, I am not shocked I’m on day 50. Good luck everyone out there. Different people experience quitting differently, I just got lucky and it was easy.
Been dipping for 5 years now ( can every 2 days) started when I was 16. I’ve quit once before but now it’s starting to take it’s toll on my mouth (gums receding ) haven’t dipped for a week and now I have the worse sore throat and it’s hard to swallow. My teeth hurt as we’ll . Of course i look up the symptoms online and everywhere I look points to cancer this and cancer that. Will be going to the doctor on Monday. I will never put a dip in again after this scare
Day one for me. Been dipping for about 15 years. Started in my teenage years and the addiction began. I have quit once already and made it a year 3 months and 29 days, not that I was counting. Had a relapse when my second son was born and been dipping again for about 20 months. I have been taking chantix for a week now and also took it previously as well. I can vouch that it works, for me anyway. I hope to make it past the ten day mark and cruise through this process. My biggest problem is not losing my cool with my little boys or wife. Hope to be able to quarantine myself so I do t hurt my little boys and my wife. I am ready to move past this addiction and be a better example for my children. Will check back in down the road.
I can do this but I’m happy to see there are many people here. Its nice to know. I am doing it today because of my sons birthday but also for my health. I will retire from the Marine Corps in two years and want to be free of the can.
Semper fi! 8 year marine vet here, started chewing while in the marines. Good luck and be strong.
My name is Brian and I will quit today. I pick this day as it’s my sons 7th birthday.
Hey all, I’ve recently decided to quit chewing. I’m a senior in high school and I have been going through about a can a day. Recently I got caught chewing at a wrestling tournament in the locker room, so many wrestlers chew it’s unbelievable. Me and teammates chewed in the locker rooms every tournament no problem. Eventually we all get caught. Well, this happened the week before regionals and I was suspended from sports for 30 days. I’m not able to wrestle anymore and that’s a tough pill to swallow because wrestling is my life, I’ve been wrestling since I was 4 years old traveling all across the country attending tournaments. I had aspirations on becoming a state champ this year after all the hard work I’ve put in and I had a good shot, I was ranked 3rd in the state. Having this happen was enough for me to never want to chew again. I’ve let so many people down and I’m having a hard time dealing. Quitting is hard enough as is is, but I’m already depressed from not being eligible to wrestle. I haven’t had but one chew since, so roughly a week ago. After a few days, I was feeling terrible so I caved and put one in And I threw up? Is that normal? It’s been a few days and is still rough. I’m down in a couple of ways so it’s proving to be very difficult. Is there any pointers out there? I don’t want to lose anything else.
Sorry to bore ya’ll with my story but feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, take care! And good luck to everyone!
Im going to set a date and lock myself in a hotel room, to at least spare my family for the first couple days. I will really need this forum, come March
Not a bad idea Timothy – but why wait till March? Get quit TODAY and by the time March rolls around you’ll be well on your way to freedom.
If you have to set a date your not ready to quit. I threw my chew in the trash after waking up one morning and now I’ve been clean 7 weeks. Not hard after the first 2 weeks
Day 1 1 hour in lets do this!!! Im 21 and ive dipped for 9 years. I finally got to the point were dip doesn’t taste good anymore so im hoping that helps me. And think you grizzly wide cut for being gross enough to make me want to quite.
hey im corey im quiting right now feb 14th prlly not a good time to start my quit starting a job tomorrow but ya know one day i wanna get married to an have kids i would like to be around to see them grow up ive failed so many times at quitting i need to figure out how to use your site if someone can email me on how to use it that would be great . countryboi728@yahoo.com please an thanks let the fight begin!!!!!!
This time I’m going to do it! I’m 43 and dipped since I was 12. It’s weird to tell people I’ve dipped 31 years and I’m only 43. But I lost my mom last May to cancer and now I’m close to losing my dad to esophagus cancer. I’m not going out that way and not forcing my kids into dealing with losing me that way. I’m on day 5. I’ve been to “day 5” hundreds of other times though. The longest I have quit was 2 months and 6 days in 2011. I had to dip again before I hurt one of my peewee football parents. I’m going to quit this time because I hate being controlled by anything. Just a tip for some I’ve found helpful. Quit drinking caffeine before you quit dipping. Getting rid of that stimulant first seems to help. Good luck to everyone!!!!
When I dip it drys my tongue and the back of my throat up why??
Day 76 feeling lot of anxiety attacks and my body gets weaker and weaker what can i do
I’ve made it two weeks without a dip… my mouth feels so much better too.. cravings are less and less. I even had drinks at the Phoenix Open last weekend and although had the urge..never, stopped to by a tin. Can’t wait to day 30, 90 and 1 full year without that crap. IF your reading this and still dip it’s not worth it. You can stop cold turkey as i have. Man up boys.
I drank the first 2 weeks as well. You have to want to quit and triggers shouldn’t do anything. I actually welcomed all my triggers just so I can fight them. 47 days clean after 11 years chewing. First try quitting and so far so good and I don’t see myself ever going back to the sac
I’m at 33 days. 2-3 tins a week. Mostly dipped while at work. Put a dip in around 630am and kept it all day. Having stomach aches and a lil anxiety. But worst of all is the sleeping thing. Can’t stay awake after work , but like clock work I wake up at 230 am. My alarm is set for 445. Doesn’t make life easy
Hi guys – Had my weekly dip dream last night.Dipped for 8 years – Cope Whiskey Blend was my go to. Quit back in September 2013 – September 8th to be exact….almost six months later and I’m still craving it each and every day. Getting that tingling feeling where my dip sat in my mouth all the time. God do I hate that feeling now. Used to be the thing reminding me that I needed to pack a lip. Now its just a reminder of how addict to this crap I really was….
William i started dipping when i was 3 im 22 now i want never quite i put a dip in when i get up every morning and keep one in all day
Not sure quite what this means…
hey guys Im on week five and I feel great. Im a very mentally strong person but dip is my only weakness. Ive been dipping for about five years. Army got me started. I took a route that may have been a little crazy but it worked for me. everytime I want a dip i look at google pictures of oral cancer and that scares the shit out of me enough not want it anymore.
Hey boys, been chewing Kodiak and Skoal since 16 yrs old. Started while playing high school baseball and never stopped through college, professional life, etc.. was a closet dipper as the wife went to bed i’d fire up the chew… only chewed once or twice a day for 25 yrs… this past year th jaw started getting tight… dentist said i started to have gingivitis, etc and just wasn’t worth it or even fun anymore.. so, i’m on day 8 and even had beers this weekend with no relapse.. so, hang in there and i’m fighting like crazy to kick this beast. Mouth already feels 100% better and i ain’t going back. Good luck boys.
Iv chewed a can of copehegan longcut everyday since i was about 16. Im 21 now and i joined the army and you are not allowed to chew during basic training. I leave febuary 2 nd so i thought id quit before then so im not freaking out during basic training. I havent had a chew in a little more than two days and i honest dont feel anything different really? Like i want to go buy a can but its not that bad of an urge. Will there be worse symptoms ha or is it just mental. If your mentally tough will i be fine?
Dave – there are some people who don’t deal with many withdrawal symptoms at all. However, the vast majority of folks do deal with several symptoms including but not limited to the ones laid out here: https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/ That said if you’re not struggling, congratulations! You may be one of the lucky ones.
Dave, I have chewed a can a day since I was 18, Im now 33. There has not been one day that I havent dipped- sick, hung-over, dental-work, etc. I am 4 days in and like you, dont feel any different. I felt a little foggy on the first day but could care less about it right now. I feared quitting for so long that I may have over prepared myself mentally. So I feel like im in the same boat as you, did it get any worse or what weeks into quiting?
Day 3 for me so far. The biggest thing I have noticed at this point is my fatigue and my inability to concentrate…almost as if I’m simply going through the motions, or walking through the fog as described above. Anybody got tips on something I could do to, I guess, regain my concentration? I’ve tried concentrating on something specific and I just can’t seem to do it at this point.
Day 40 here, taking it one day at a time. Don’t look out and don’t look back, look at getting past each hour if you have to. Document your days and that will remind you of how tough we are for quitting, like we thought we were tough for dipping. Life has been much better without it, more energy, more money, stronger. We are gladiators for quitting.
Hey All- about 4 weeks into my quit however I feel as though I can’t shake the fog. Still get headaches, difficult to concentrate, short term memo almost like you’re just going through the motions…anyone else experience a longer fog as well??
Rick – Grizz Wintergreen, 1 can every other day..:
Hey Rick –
Yes… the fog can last for quite some time for some folks (myself included). I know it’s not much help, but all I can say is hang in there and keep fighting. It won’t happen overnight, but there will be a day where you look back and say, “Hey… I’ve felt pretty damn good for the last week or so”. Keep rocking that quit and keep doing what got you to 4+ weeks!
Today the day is 59 and i m facing hear pain from last 3 days today i have go for ECG but their is problem shown in my ECG that my heart is not getting proper oxygen therefor i m facing problem like anxiety, back pain and i m just 28 year old after that doctor told me for an another test which is TROPTIN T test for heart and this test go negative .
I never had the chest pains, the anxiety does go away, and I had to take a little longer to do something to make sure it was done right but believe me it’s worth it. More energy and more money!!
I’m Chris. I have dipped for about 3-4 years. I’m 19. Im on 7-8days dip free. I’m head hurts like hell. And I keep worrying I have oral cancer. Even tho I don’t see anything out of the ordinary. And my teeth hurt.
Day 1 12 hours in. This sucks. My wife is trying to help but it almost makes it worse. Ready for tomorrow.
In the middle of day 5. Dipper for 12 years, decided that 30 years old would be when I stopped. Cold turkey approach; not substituting with anything else (although I noticed a tremendous craving for candy that luckily I have been able to steal from around the office). I definitely still feel like I have a ‘haze’ going on here; I’m not sure my physical dependency is gone yet. Skoal Straight Pouches, 2 tins per day habit.
i’ve dipped for 20yrs, 2 cans a day. I told people that i dip to keep from killing someone. well i’m quitting! i have found that the nicotine gum helps with the craving(4mg) but the dry mouth is crazy. i chew other gum and candy but it don’t help. biotine really don’t do it either.
Chewing gum actually dries my mouth out more.u gotta drink a crap load of water to make up for ur body depleting itself
Wolverine nicotine gums will not help mouth wants that bitterness that come with tobacco .I used neem leafs to chew instead and it has worked for me its taste almost same to tobacco and good for teeth and gums infect it is known to be best herbal medicine for all kind of illness and purifies blood. And the good part is this that its free and easily available
Today the day 54 still facing anxiety attack , Heart pain, shortness of breath and not able to take any decission what i will do plz help me friends
Day 56 lot of congestion in my cheast and pain in my heart and not able to do any work lot of confusion when i m taking any decission , when it will be correct plz tell me.
Quit June 10th 2012 and never looked back just put the junk down after 17 years hardest thing I ever did but now I can look back and say it was worth it. By the way it does get easier you learn to deal with the cravings.
Day 2 here..I can feel myself healing, but damn the craving is intense!
yes…same feeling
I have been quit for 30 days now having a lot of anxiety attacks not sleeping well have dipped for twenty eight years since I was 15 I love all the posts has helped me a lot
Well, i made it to day 5. Day 3 was easily the hardest day so far with the cravings and panic attacks. Day 5 no panic attacks which i’ll take as a small victory. Of course though, woke up this morning with a headache and am feeling the onsets of a sore throat…hooray….
Thank you so much. Day four is mine for the taking no dipping from this boy. To God be the glory.
My name is Jimmy. I have dipped Copenhagen for the past 16 years. I have recently quit dipping. It has been 72 hours. During this time, I have experienced vomiting, nausea, up set stomach, heart burn, diarrhea, being pissed off, and extremely emotional. However, to God be the glory I will win……………….
Dear Jimmy its the part of quiting and believe me you r at right place where all peoples help u like family .
I have been dip free for 7 days now and it’s still hard. Hang in there and you will make it. I dipped Grizzly for over 10 years and tried quitting about 100 times. What has really helped me is Wellbutrin. Takes the edge off slightly. You will have intense cravings but keep positive and you will make it!!!
Stay strong, fellas! I’m creeping up on 120 days and it feels great. Hell, I hardly ever crave it let alone do I even want to do it.
I’ve been dipping since i was 18 or so. I always told myself that when i turned 25, i’d stop. Never did i think i’d actually still dip until then, but it sounded nice. Saturday i turned 25. I’ve been chewing this past year non-stop. Ever since i found out about Camel Snus, it has dominated my life. Wherever i was, i’d have a pouch in. As i took my last dip Saturday morning around 11:00am, i told myself this was it. Fast forward nearly 48 hours later and the withdrawals have started to kick in. It all started last night around 8:30pm. Felt strange, in a dream. Started to get a bit dizzy. Attempted to go to bed but the insomnia kicked in. Took some NyQuil, but that seemed to make things even worse. This morning i woke up feeling great. Went to the gym like normal before hopping on the ferry to work. I noticed my throat had a tightening feeling in it (probably from the lack of snus). I think the worst thing so far has been the panic attacks i’m getting. I’m generally a nervous person, but man these attacks are killing me. Well i’m starting to ramble now…keeping my head up though regardless.
You can so it man. I dipped a can and a half a day until I was 24. Quit for two years, got back into it and then to snus all just abt 24 7. I’m at a week quit from snus and my life is on the up tick. Your brain will give you any excuse to use- just don’t use. If that’s the only thing you accomplish in a day, it was a successful day. Hang jn there bud
On day 52 i m not able to wake up in morning after quiting , is it the cause of quiting or its the part of healing and another problem i m not not able to take up any decission which is like confusion.
Sleep issues and concentration issues are very common when quitting. I can’t tell you exactly when things will return to normal as it’s different for everyone, but I can say definitively that things WILL return to normal.
Im on day 13 I have chewed a can a day for 35 years and my whole body is sore and I am a very active guy but I am so lazy no energy ensecure about everything mad at the world and im usually the happy go lucky guy really hope it gets better fast
After quiting i m not able to wake up early in the morning and wvwn go to sleep early , is it only effect of quiting and after 100 days of quiting i will be able to wake up early plz suggest me.
THe day 47 after quiting in evening i m facing heart pain , anxiety and lot of weakness , i m use of can from last 7 years and hard user and now i m facing so much problem like heartpain and anxiety what i can do plz help me.
Somuuu – anxiety and acid reflux / heartburn are very common occurances when quitting dip.
https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/
http://blog.killthecan.org/2012/04/heartburn-when-quitting-dip/
That said, when dealing with “heart pain” it’s difficult to tell the difference somtimes between acid reflux and a true heart condition. I’d suggest going to a doctor and getting checked out. It’s most likely nothing but at the very least you’ll get some peace of mind.
Decided to quit about 5 minutes ago. I have quit before but relapsed. I would like to get married someday and have teeth to kiss my wife with! Glad to see so many people on here, LETS DO THIS!!!
Laying in bed on day 3. I’ve dipped from the age of 15. Copenhagen. I am a professional, architect. Played football in college and never gave it up. Been 35 years. Not sure I will ever really quit , but I intend to make this a very extended break. Day 2 very bad. Today. OK. Decided since I was turning 50 this year I would do it nicotine free. I hope we all pull through. Good luck and may God give us all courage
Hi Yann – sadly, if this is going to be an “extended break” then I’m sorry to say you’re setting yourself up for failure. Unfortuantely, we are addicts. We’re not those “lucky few” who can have a dip “every now and then”. Because as we’ve seen time and time again, one dip WILL lead an addict back to a full blown addiction. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. When you’re ready… truly ready… you’re in the right place. Check out our forums http://forum.killthecan.org/ where there are nearly 18,000 members who “get it”. It’s the best place on the web to get support, questions, answered, etc. to get and stay quit… for life.
Chewie. All good bro. Coming up on day 30. Been through the days when you think I got this. One dip won’t hurt. But stayed strong. I’m committed. Not gonna do it. Don’t even think about it that much. Will continue to check in. I hope all that read this get some support. We all need it
Yann,
After reading your post, I can’t believe how close our stories are. Im 52 and had a major dose of peer pressure back as a freshman, Playing football in Georgiaā¦
I also, spend my professional day in front of a computer as a package designer. And for over 30 years, I always reach for the can prior to the mouseā¦
Im not a “hog” dipper, so I don’t use a lot, But will keep the tobacco in for hoursā¦
But sad to say this isn’t the first time I have tried to quitā¦ No need to say this is the hardest thing I have ever tried to doā¦.
But like you, @ over 50, enough is enough and i think I can finally do itā¦
Day two, But first day at work and it is pure HELLā¦ But good luck buddy, Im sure the both of us can do this!
Pat. Still hanging in there. Closing in on day 50. Hope you are also. I have become a bit of a coffee addict but slowly curtailing that as well. We are going to make it this time
you got this YANN,, im on day 34, its really getting better.. I dipped for 18 years.
Just found this site, but similar story. I turn 50 this year, been chewing 34 years, 1 can of skoal per day. Today is day 21 of no chew…..I’m going to make it. I used a sleep aid the first couple nights and baccoff(fake chew) for about a week. Unfortunately, I am tired all the time now. Just checking to see if that’s a side effect, and hopefully it will wear off.
Hey Casey – sleep issues are VERY typical when quitting. The good news is you WILL return to normal. The bad news is it may take some time. For some people it takes months for sleep to get back to normal. That said, you’re rocking this quit with 21 days… keep going!
your story sounds like mine i started at 14 now 48 . I’m visiting this site in search of help and support How is it going for you?
Hey Yann, We’re about the same age and similar back grounds. I quit 8 days ago, after a can a day for 30 years. My mouth still feels a little weird, but can feel an improvement everyday. When ever I get the craving, I chew sunflower seeds for as long as it takes. On about day 3, I went thru 2 big bags, now a few times a day. Without the seeds I don’t know if I could have made it. I’m starting to feel pretty proud of myself, I haven’t cheated once. You’ll be fine to, go buy some seeds and hang in there.
Starting today, back to work today. Used to throw in a good 1/4 tin and work under mask until 10am coffee, the nights already been heel. But I was dipping 1.25-1.5 tins a day at 25-28$ a tin I thought it was time to quit. Just gotta keep myself busy at work over the weekend and nights, always slow and just looking for something to do.
SpencerF – you may find a fake dip to be very helpful to get you through your initial stages of your quit: https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/smokeless-alternatives/
Been dipping 40years.Fixing to have surgery, but they want operate until I’m nicotine free.Something about the healing process. Are you sure it’s out of system in two days, because they are going to piss test me first.Tell you how bad it has me,I sleep with a dip in,no joke.Young dippers beware.Ive come off drugs easier.
At that price? Holy shit! That would make me quit because I would go broke dipping 2 cans a day. I’m lucky it’s 2 to 4.50$ a can around here.
That’s still too much

Dude I have a dip in right now and I’m so pissed at myself. Family Guy came on. Fucking family guy. And I couldn’t resist. It’s so Fucking stupid.
It helps if you don’t keep any around. Then when you have the urge, there is nothing to turn to. It sucks, but it’s effective.
I just decided to quit a few hours ago when i went through my mouth and found how many sores i have. Ive only bean doing for a few months but its gonna be f**king imposible to quit. all my friends do it, and every time we hang out after school i have a lip in. Driving, my friends, tv… the list goes on, and every time i do these things i have a lip in, its gonna be impossible. ontop of this im freaking out that my mouth sores are cancer. they probably arnt and im probably just being over paranoid but still its scary as hell
K sooo… Been chewing 2 cans a day for 33 years. I think I found the perfect combo for quitting! Acupuncture, it gets the nicotine out faster so cravings diminish! Yeah it’s expensive but hell so is chewin!
I’m 15 I have been dipping for a year about a tin a week and I need a lip every time I shit or I am playing golf. Any ideas on how to quit
